SAS Export Procedures

Although DataFax has interfacing capabilities to a number of the more common Data Base systems (like Oracle DB), most DataFax clients export study data to SAS statistical software. DataFax has a direct interface capability to SAS, allowing to reuse the metadata (variable-/value labels, etc.) from DataFax in SAS. During export, DataFax allows to restructure the data, like combine information from different CRF pages into a single SAS dataset, or normalize data structures in SAS. Thorin - Services - Programming - SAS Export procedures Thorin can assist clients in reviewing and setting up these export procedures. As with most of our programming activities, all of our SAS export procedures are fully tested and validated before delivery. In this case, the test procedure has been automated by generating unique test data, each data point on the CRF gets its own unique value, which is then reviewed in SAS.

The same method as used for the creation of SAS datasets, can also be used in the creation of CDISC SDTM (Study Data Tabulation Model) Domains. Most of the transformation and normalization can be accomplished by using a DataFax utility called 'DFsas'. This utility will not only export the data from DataFax in a Normalized data structure, it will also create the necessary files to allow SAS to import the data from DataFax and create the SDTM domains.
